Jane
joined LGBRC in 2009 as a road and crit
racer. She says, 'I started riding my
bike seriously the summer after I met
my boyfriend, which was in 2006. I got my
Dad to set me up on his old road bike and
I spent the summer going riding
with my Dad while my boyfriend
biked across the country. I've
been riding every summer since,
and now I ride all the time." When we asked what Jane considers her greatest cycling achievement so far, she responds, "Upgrading to Cat 2 after four months of racing." When she's not on her bike? "My day job is as a QA Engineer at a software company in San Mateo called Fortify. I commute daily by bike. When I'm not riding my bike or working, I read books, and watch movies and a few TV shows. I also make chainmail (the armor kind, not the junk mail). She adds, "This is my first year racing on my bicycle and my main goal is to gain experience. Upgrading would be nice, but I don't expect to be great this year since I'm not following a set training plan, it's all about learning this year. Next year, I'll turn racing into a science." |
