joined LGBRC in Jan. 2009. She
is a Cat 3 and does track and
crits. "I got exposed to cycling after I sprained my ankle badly and couldn't run for a while. I met the folks at Cupertino Bike Shop when I came in with my Grandpa's old Sequoia that was way too big for me. After interviewing bike racers for a school research project, I became enamored with the sport and had to try it out." "I consider my greatest cycling achievement to be making the final in the scratch race at elite track nationals in fall 2009. When I began racing a year before that, it never occurred to me that I could soon be racing with the nation's fastest women. It was an incredible experience to be in such good company...and to not get dropped." "I attend UC Santa Cruz, where I am about to finish my first year. I am studying molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. I scored a job at Shoreline Amphitheater this summer, but I must find more work to pay off the bike I just bought. I love the outdoors and I used to hike a lot, but now I'm too lazy to walk anywhere when I could so easily ride." "I want to take cycling as far as I can without flunking out of school. A degree might come in handy, you know, in case my pro career flops." |
