Warren is a
category 1/2 racer who joined LGBRC
in 2009.
He is a track and crit racer, as well as a race organizer. He says, "I was around 6 years old I learned to ride a bike. My brother David and I spent almost all of our free time riding. The first bike race I ever saw was the Davis Criterium in 1973, and I was fascinated by the sport. I began racing in Connecticut during 1976 when I was 17 years old. Since then I've done more than 800 criteriums and more than 200 days of racing on the track." He continues, "I have won three masters National Championships and placed in the top 4 at the masters World Championships. My wins at nats were in the sprints (twice) and team sprint. In the points race I've placed top 6 at Nat's and top 12 at Worlds. I would not have achieved these results without the tremendous help of my coach, Max Testa, who began coaching me in 2003." "I was a cross-country ski instructor for 10 years and I have been scuba diving in some very nice places around the world. I enjoy traveling to other countries to experience the local activities and culture." " I like to give back to cycling, and to help other riders enjoy the sport. In 2008 Rick Adams and I organized the Masters Track National Championships at Hellyer Park, and I've been the organizer for the State Championships for the last three years. I began coaching riders two years ago and it gives me a lot of pleasure to help them do well and have fun." |
